APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE FOR 2021 REINHOLD FOUNDATION NONPROFIT LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT & CAPACITY BUILDING TRAINING

Through its Leadership Development and Capacity Building Initiative, the Paul & Klare Reinhold Foundation focuses on strengthening the nonprofit sector by strengthening the leadership and capacity of nonprofit organizations that serve Clay County. Any 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides services to Clay County residents is eligible to apply.

The Paul & Klare Reinhold Foundation is offering eight nonprofit training curriculums in 2021 (see details below). At this time, all workshops are being scheduled virtually online. This is subject to change. The program curriculums are designed and taught by faculty from the Edyth Bush Institute for Philanthropy & Nonprofit Leadership at Rollins College. The Reinhold Foundation is underwriting all costs of training; thus, there are no tuition expenses for selected participating organizations.

In addition, the Paul & Klare Reinhold Foundation is offering a special incentive to organizations that participate in a training program. Organizations can earn “participation gifts” of $400 per person for completion of Fundamentals of Successful Fundraising (24 total hours); $100 per person for completion of  Effective Storytelling for Nonprofits (6 total hours); $100 per person for completion of The Importance of Strategy for the Post Pandemic World (6 total hours); $100 per person for completion of Creating an Actionable Marketing and Social Media Plan (6 total hours); $100 per person for completion of Leadership Strategies to Meet Changing Nonprofit Sector Needs (6 total hours); $100 per person for completion of Nonprofit Accounting & Budgeting Basics (6 total hours);  $50 per person for completion of Special Event Success (3 total hours); and $50 per person for completion of The Art of Networking (3 total hours). Participation gifts are paid to the organization and must be used for one or more of the exempt purposes set forth in Internal Revenue Code Section 501 (c)(3).

Organizations may request to participate in more than one training program. The deadline for applications is Tuesday, November 17, 2020. Late applications will not be accepted. Detailed information about the training classes are included below.

 2021 Fundamentals of Successful Fundraising (Track B)

Dates and time: (This program is 24 total hours of instruction delivered over eight days in three-hour sessions each day. Individuals must be committed to attending all eight half-days of training)

8 virtual sessions, each session is 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

January 6, 8, 12, 14, 20, 22, 26 and 29

(2 Tuesdays, 2 Wednesdays, 1 Thursday and 3 Fridays)

Audience: Fundraising and development professionals, managers, aspiring leaders

Prepare your organization for long-term fundraising success! This comprehensive training provides a thorough overview of the fundraising process using ethical, reliable methods that will offer resilience to weather economic ups and downs. Content and interaction are designed for individuals at beginner or intermediate levels of fundraising experience.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the components of an ethical, comprehensive, and productive development program.
  • Emerge with a comprehensive understanding of the various vehicles and methods of fundraising.
  • Recognize and organize a layered approach to fundraising.
  • Improve how to work with volunteers, board members and other colleagues.
  • Become a more effective representative within your workplace.

Participation Gift eligibility for Track B: $400 per person (Individuals must complete all eight half-days of Track B training above for their organization to be eligible for the Reinhold Foundation’s $400 gift. No partial gifts for a single day attendance or half day attendance will be provided).

“Effective Storytelling for Nonprofits”

Dates and time: Wednesday February 24 and Friday February 26, 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. each day

(Individuals must be committed to attending both days.)

Audience:  Program professionals, marketing managers, volunteers

Learn how to tell a great story whether in 140 characters, web copy, a pitch to donors, or a PowerPoint presentation. Reaching your audience across a variety of platforms requires clarity of brand and compelling storytelling.  You’ll learn the structure of a great story and how you can use these techniques to share your organization’s purpose.

Learning Objectives:

  • Garner tools to help the entire organization become better brand ambassadors.
  • Receive techniques for telling a great story and a way to find the most compelling stories.
  • Understand how to connect with community members and share the purpose of your organization.
  • Participate in simple and effective exercises for you to be a great presenter, from the page to the stage.

Participation Gift eligibility: $100 per person (Individuals must complete both days of training for their organization to be eligible for the Reinhold Foundation’s $100 gift.)

“The Importance of Strategy for the Post Pandemic World”

Dates and time: Tuesday February 9 and Thursday February 11, 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. each day

(Individuals must be committed to attending both days.)

Audience: Senior leadership, board members and key stakeholders

Strategic planning requires leaders to intentionally choose their desired future and develop a documented approach to achieve that vision. Learn to excite your team by understanding how to create or alter your existing plan with an eye towards maximizing revenue and resources in this new economic environment.

 Learning Objectives:

  • Essential steps of the planning process and the importance of achieving your goals.
  • Understand the role of CEO, board of directors and staff in plan creation and execution.
  • Internalize the importance of stakeholders’ input.
  • Grasp how to create measurable objectives and action steps to achieve your desired future.
  • Absorb specific benefits of strategic planning, such as:
    • Use as a management tool.
    • Clear direction for the organization.
    • Improved service delivery and client interaction.
    • Increased community participation.
    • Effective and focused fundraising.

“Creating an Actionable Marketing & Social Media Plan”

Dates and time: Tuesday March 9 and Thursday March 11, 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. each day

(Individuals must be committed to attending both days.)

Audience: Marketing & social media professionals, program managers, volunteers

An effective marketing plan is key to the success of your nonprofit. In this environment, it is even more important to market your mission and to keep your supporters and clients strongly connected. This workshop will equip you with the tools needed to upgrade your marketing efforts and connect them directly to achieving your organization’s goals. Leave the workshop with a draft of your own marketing plan and new thinking on how to become invaluable to your organization.

 Learning Objectives:

  • Capture how to align marketing strategy with your organization’s goals.
  • Internalize how to maximize the five stages of nonprofit marketing communication.
  • Learn how to identify priority audiences and brand ambassadors.
  • Understand how to prioritize marketing communication channels and calls to action.
  • Identify actions to successfully implement your plan.
  • Identify metrics to measure the success of your plan.

“Leadership Strategies to Meet Changing Nonprofit Sector Needs”

Dates and time: Tuesday March 2 and Friday March 5, 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. each day

(Individuals must be committed to attending both days.)

Audience: Senior leadership, board members and key stakeholders

The nonprofit sector continuously needs strong leadership talent, particularly in this era of inclusion, equity and diversity. Therefore, a steady supply of qualified leaders is critical. This workshop is designed for professionals who want to maximize personal potential, overcome hindrances to success and lead their organization to new heights!

Learning Objectives:

  • Develop an understanding of personal leadership style.
  • Apply and integrate leadership concepts into a variety of real-life situations.
  • Understand how to lead in an inclusive environment.
  • Learn about overcoming personal bias.
  • Understand organization dynamics and the role leaders play at all levels.
  • Become a more effective leader within current or future leadership positions.

“Nonprofit Accounting & Budgeting Basics”

Dates and time: Wednesday April 7 and Friday April 9, 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. each day

(Individuals must be committed to attending both days.)

Audience: Finance and senior leadership, program managers, board members and aspiring leaders

It is important that key professionals involved with finance understand terms, principles and technology.  In this session, you will learn basic accounting and budgeting principles to help assure your organization adheres to its fiduciary responsibility.  The presentation will offer an overview of fund-accounting, an understanding of nonprofit financial statements and sharing how a budget can shape your organization’s mission.  Discussion will also focus on how to capture board priorities, set targets for evaluation, determine appropriate management tools and monitor the use of resources.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand accounting terminology.
  • Capture how to record common financial transactions.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit financial statements.
  • Budgeting as a management tool to plan and monitor resources.
  • Techniques for budget development.

“The Art of Networking”

Date and time: Thursday February 4, 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Audience: The entire organizational staff, board members and volunteers

Get the most from community interactions and “working” a room by learning the art of successful networking. It takes more than making small talk to build relationships that will ultimately benefit your organization’s mission. Learn to mingle, engage in small talk, read body language, build rapport and think on your feet.

 Learning Objectives:

  • Receive tips on how to mingle and work a room.
  • Learn to engage in small talk and starter questions.
  • Read body language – it tells you a lot.
  • Determine how to build rapport quickly.
  • Receive techniques for listening and catching all cues.

Participation Gift eligibility: $50 per person (Individuals must complete the full three-hour training for their organization to be eligible for the Reinhold Foundation’s $50 gift.)

“Special Event Success”

Date and time: Wednesday March 24, 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Audience: Fundraising and development staff, program managers, board members and volunteers

Virtual and person to person events offer an opportunity to increase visibility, engage volunteers, develop leadership, open doors for new donors, improve donor relations and raise unrestricted operating support. Prepare yourself to establish clear goals, implement proven strategies, and evaluate for future success.  Planning a special event takes time and skill to ensure you are reaching full potential with clear timelines, budgets, and committee involvement.

Learning Objectives:

  • Assess how a special event, virtual or in-person reaches your intended outcomes.
  • Recognize the tasks required to implement a special event.
  • Capture how to execute the event logistics efficiently.
  • Develop strategies to decrease costs and maximize revenue.

Participation Gift eligibility: $50 per person (Individuals must complete the full three-hour training for their organization to be eligible for the Reinhold Foundation’s $50 gift.)

Notice: All above listed workshops and dates are tentative. The Trustees will make final decisions in December based on the status of the completed applications.
